Hey guys, today’s post is my 2021 reading goal. I have tried to make realistic goals that are doable and manageable throughout the whole year. I also haven’t made too many as I just want to make sure I am able to achieve the ones I have set.
Goodreads Goal is 100 books
2020’s Goodreads goal was 75, and I was able to blow that out of the park by a lot, but I don’t want to be putting pressure on myself to try and beat this year’s goal as that won’t happen. We had the lockdown and I wasn’t able to do much else but read with my post-concussion syndrome. I am hoping in 2021 I will be able to do more things that will make my overall reading time less.
Read more diverse books
I was just coming out of a huge 5 or so year reading slump at the end of 2019, so my 2020’s goal was just to read. But I have found that my reading is not as diverse as I would like. So in 2021, I would love to try and get to more books that have diversity in them as there are so many amazing ones out there waiting for me to read them.
Read more Books from POC authors
Like I said above I didn’t have any goals this year, but I have found that I am not reading nearly enough books from POC authors as I would like. I have a lot on my Goodreads TBR that I don’t seem to prioritize them but I would like that to change in 2021.
Finish more series before I start new ones
The ratio of starting new series and finishing them has been terrible this year. So I really want to make a conscious effort to finish more series before I start others. I’m not saying read a whole series before I start a new one because that would not work for me and how I read, but hopefully at least to start with starting as many series as half I finish or are up to date with.
Try to read more books I am interested in
I seem to pick up books that I am not as interested in before I pick up my 5-star predictions or ones that I know I will enjoy. This is because a lot of these books I am very scared they will not live up to my expectations where I can pick up a book that I am not very interested in and not be surprised or disappointed that I didn’t love it. The main example I can give is that I have yet to pick up the sequel of Illuminae, Gemina where I have started and read the whole The Hunger Games series and I gave them all 3 stars. So next year I would like to prioritise the books I am the most interested in.
Make sure I stay on track with my review books.
This year I started reviewing books and it’s been really exciting and fun and I love reviewing them. But around October, I found myself in a reading slump and because I didn’t read as much as normal my review books started piling up. Next year I want to work on making sure that pile doesn’t get out of hand, and I have time to mood read as well.
Read More Books That I Own
It’s no secret I have a book buying addiction so I have accumulated a lot of books this year. Next year I would love to instead of buying a book and reading it, try and get to the veteran books on my TBR.
Mood Read
I love having a TBR and I will still set myself a TBR, but possibly make them smaller ones so that I can if I want to mood read a few books through the months.
That is all of my reading goals for 2021, I do hope next year is a better year than this one. Do you have any goals you have set yourself?
