An Indelible Day by Cairo Marques || Review

I was kindly given an ecopy from the author, that doesn’t affect my opinion of the book, all my thoughts are my own and honest.

The story accompanies a single day of John C., a man of about thirty. In this short passage of time, he has three dialogues with three different people. These dialogues, certainly, have shaped his day and, likely, will exist within him eternally.

When I was approached by the author to review this book I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to write much of a review. It was a short story, I didn’t know if there would be enough for me to be able to write something, but it was out of my normal and sounded interesting.

It was interesting to see how one’s day can change through only a few conversations. I found that at the start, it is stated by the receptionist, Jenny that C., is known for his temper. Throughout the story, we see a nervous around other people, unsure kinda guy. I felt was there to show that when we aren’t ourselves around other people, they won’t get the right idea for who we are (I could be wrong though). I felt the conversations weren’t lifelike and didn’t flow well which resulted in taking me out of the story.

The main problem I had wasn’t any fault to the book or the author. I felt like this book was too smart for me, and I wasn’t able to get the full potential out of the story. For example, the author used quite a few words I had to look up the meaning for. It also was quite philosophical which I am not used to or could really understand the meaning of.

Overall the book wasn’t for me, but I don’t think that means it wouldn’t be a great read for the right audience.

Thank you Cairo Marques for the chance to review this book.
