I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers to review. This doesn’t affect my opinion of the book, all my thoughts are my own and are honest.
Deceiving the vampire that saved her could get her killed, but it's a risk she's willing to take.
Rea makes a terrible choice when she is in the midst of grief and now has to live with the consequences. Hunted by creatures she thought were fiction she has to use her brain to not only survive but to keep from forgetting this world she has just discovered, and it is going to be very difficult to outsmart her reluctant hero Ari, a vampire.
When I went into this book I thought it was going to be a paranormal romance, heavy on the romance between the main character Rea and Ari and that’s it. But there was a larger plot in play and romance wasn’t all the book was.
I really liked how the author went into the lore and mythology of the creatures and made sure to have the authors twist on a creature that is used a lot in books. A lot stayed the same but they were able to make sure they had their mark on it.
Rea was very relatable in the way she acted and thought, which made her likeable in my case. She was struggling and made some dumb choices that got her into trouble but also realised it was her fault and dealt with it. There were a lot more characters in here and they were all different which made it entertaining.
The writing wasn’t my favourite, it was a bit repetitive which took me out of the story at times. The atmosphere was dark and I liked it.
Overall I liked this book, but there wasn’t anything that I found that blew me away, but I might still continue with the series. Would recommend it to people who want a quick read and are looking for more than just a paranormal romance.
