Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that caught my eye. It was brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was previously hosted at The Broke and the Book.
So I originally got the idea from Becca and The Books on youtube, I have seen a few other people around have also done this, but it wasn’t until my friend mentioned it that we decided to actually do it ourselves. I have made my list back in May so instead of being self destruct in 12 months, it will only be 10 months. I have a lot of books on my shelve that I acquired at the point in time I wasn’t reading, that I just can’t unhaul without trying them. So this week is 10 books that If I don’t read in 10 months I will have to unhaul them.
First Light by Rebecca Stead
‘Peter is thrilled to join his parents on an expedition to Greenland. Thea has never seen the sun, her people suspected of witchcraft have nearly been drowned to extinction. As Thea dreams of the surface, Peter gets closer to her home.'
I bought this back three or four years ago, I liked the premise but I never got around to reading it. I’ve put this on a few different TBR’s and haven’t picked it up.
The First Time She Drowned by Kerry Kletter
‘It’s been two and a half years since Cassie’s mother dumped her in a mental institution against her will. Now Cassie is able to reclaim her life.’
I am still very interested in this book, but it is one of the books I have had on my shelves the longest, and need a deadline to pick this up.
Zac & Mia by A.J. Betts
‘Zac Meier has leukemia. Mia is the angry, not-at-all stoic cancer patient, in the room next to him.’
When I was given this, I did not read romance, so I never thought of picking it up, but once I had started, I read a few very bad reviews on Goodreads and that has put me off.
Soldier on the Hill by Jackie French
‘It’s 1942, Joey discovers a Japanese soldier hiding in the hills outside the country town where they live now.’
I really like the premise of this book, but I have a very hot, cold relationship with Jackie French’s writing style. I think if I could find an audiobook of this somewhere I might enjoy it more, than if I read it physically.
The Girl From Snowy River by Jackie French
‘It’s the year 1919. It has been 30 years since the man from Snowy River made his famous ride. Now WW1 still casts a shadow across the valley.’
I have read this book, but this was one of the original books that I wanted to put on this list, so I included it. See my July wrap up to see what my thoughts were on it.
The One Dollar Girl by Lauren St.John
‘Fifteen-year-old Casey Blue lives in East Lindon’s grimmest tower block and volunteers at a local riding school.’
Again I have had this book on my TBR for so long and need something to make me pick it up. I know I will like it, but I just don’t gravitate to when I am choosing the books I want.
I Have Lost My Way by Gayle Forman
‘Freya has lost her voice while recording her debut album. Harun is making plans to run away from home to find the boy that he loves. Nathaniel is arriving in New York after a family tragedy leaves him alone. These three run into each other and might be able to help find themselves again.’
This was the first book on my list. I am not much of a contemporary reader anymore, but in May I found the audiobook of it in my library and decided to listen to it. See my May wrap up to see what my thoughts were.
Amelia Westlake by Erin Gough
‘Two different girls, and one giant hoax that could change or ruin everything’
My friend gave this to me a few years ago and would like to read it because they gifted it to me, but I’m not too interested in the books itself.
Take the Reins by Jessica Burkhart
‘
When Sasha and her horse Charm arrive on the campus of the elite Canterwood Crest Academy Sasha knows she’s in trouble.’
This is a book that all my horsy friends read when they were younger but I never did. I would like to read it before I unhaul it.
The Book of Horses and Unicorns by Jackie French
‘Collection of stories about horses and unicorns’
I have had this book for the longest time. I love horses.
That’s all the books that I will unhaul if I don’t read them in 10 months. Let me know if there are any books that you have on your shelves that you aren’t interested in anymore.
